Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) is a specialized arbitration process used in health insurance to resolve payment disputes between healthcare providers and insurance plans for out-of-network services, particularly in surprise billing cases. When providers and payers cannot agree on a fair payment amount, a neutral third party (the IDR entity) reviews the case and issues a binding decision.

Pricing Structure

  • No Setup Fee
  • No Monthly Fee

Service Fees

  • Applicable third-party fees (Administrative Fee / Independent Review Fee) will apply
  • No Service Fee charged by PatientList for IDR representation

Collection Fee

  • 18% — applies only to successful collections

  • 95% success rate in achieving favorable payment resolutions

Eligibility

Our IDR service is available only to select accounts. Selection is based on multiple factors, including:

Type of practice:

  • Place of service (e.g., Emergency Department, Inpatient, Elective, etc.)

  • Type of procedures offered

  • Patient insurance mix

  • Surgeon/Provider experience

  • Additional case-specific considerations
